EOL of Microsoft Office 2019 for MacBooks
Example of EOL: Support for Microsoft Office 2019 ended in October 2023.
This is how I found out that Microsoft Office actually doesn't like Apple MacBooks. I have the Office 2019 license for macOS, and the support officially ended in October 2023.
But Office 2019 for Windows will be supported by Microsoft until October 2025, and that's extremely unfair for MacBook users. Out of stinginess, I still haven't gotten the upgrade to Office 2021 for macOS. After all, the license for Office Home & Student 2021 costs 149 EUR.
So what are the consequences?
I can still use Excel or PowerPoint, but I no longer get security updates. Security updates are what help protect your MacBook from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. That's why you should always keep your software up-to-date.
Dangers of End-of-Life (EOL) Software
Example of EOL: Support for Microsoft Office 2019 ended in October 2023.
Using EOL software, which is no longer supported or updated by the developer, poses several significant dangers:
- Security Vulnerabilities: EOL software often contains unpatched security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by cybercriminals to deliver malware or conduct other malicious activities.
- Incompatibility: New hardware, operating systems, and other software may not be compatible with EOL software, causing integration issues and operational disruptions.
- Performance Issues: EOL software may not be optimized for current hardware and operating systems, leading to reduced performance and efficiency.
